“We were living in Hong Kong and having online tutoring from Zak – I was initially unsure how it would work but my daughter said it was excellent. Zak was empathetic and had no problem in dealing with the time difference.” — a parent from Hong Kong – student achieved A* in International A-Level Mathematics

“My son is a people person and we had initial reservations about online teaching, Zak offered a free trial lesson to reassure us. To our surprise, the sessions went really well, our son could easily share resources and questions on the digital whiteboard and rewatch the recordings in his free time.” — parents from Moscow – student achieved A* in IGCSE Further Mathematics

Bio

Hi there, I am Zak and I have been tutoring for more than 6 years. I have worked with top agencies in the Greater London area and have delivered more than 800 hours of tuition to hundreds of students around the world.

I graduated with a First Class Honours Master’s degree in Physics from University College London. I also obtained a scholarship to study at the University of Washington in Seattle during my third year. In high school, I obtained gold medals and came first in school in the Senior UMKT Challenge and British AS Physics Olympiad competition. You will find my qualifications down below.

I am from Southern China and I live in London. I have lived in Ireland and the US before. I speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese fluently and I am currently learning French. I started to play the piano 14 years ago and I am a composer and also a street photographer. Previously I have worked in management consulting and tech startups.

Why I teach

I have always been curious with the world around me. I have always found mathematics and physics fascinating as they describe how everything in the universe works. As I grew older, my interests expanded further into philosophy, psychology and history.

I enjoy intellectual discussions and I love sharing my passions towards mathematics and science to younger students and show them how they describe our complicated world. I think teaching them the whys is much more important than the hows and whats.

Beyond mathematics and science, I would like to help my students to develop positive attitudes towards learning and knowledge in general, which in my opinion will help them to live a fulfilling life.
